img_9047Peacock Visual Arts’ end of year exhibition and print sale ‘Printland’ opens Friday 25th November 2016, 6-8pm and then runs until the 14th January 2017, Tuesday to Saturday, 09.30-17.30.
The exhibition provides an opportunity to own a unique, limited edition artwork, or pick up an original Xmas gift at a bargain price.

Prints for sale are by local and national artists in a wide range of sizes and styles including abstracts, landscapes, portraits, illustrations, and urban art.

There will be something for everyone! All of the prints are made here in Aberdeen and prices start from just £1.

Peacock Visual Arts are a not-for-profit organisation, funded by Creative Scotland and Aberdeen City Council. All monies made are reinvested back into the artistic community.

We are based on 21 Castle Street, just off the Castle Gate, down the close next to the Barnardo’s shop. The entrance to the close is clearly signed. You can also get access from King Street on the lane to the right of St Andrew’s Cathedral and then by taking your second right.

All are welcome, entry is free, and drinks will be provided at the opening evening. We will be closed Thursday 22nd December 2016 until Tuesday 10th January 2017.

THE OBSIDIAN ISLE – Gayle Chong Kwan

The Obsidian Isle is a significant new body of work from Venice Biennale exhibitor Gayle Chong Kwan. The installation of large-format photographs & sculptures documents a fictional island located off the west coast of Scotland, on which reside one country’s lost and destroyed buildings and places.
The Obsidian Isle explores ideas of collective history, national identity, landscape, and tourism through the prism of the senses and the distortion of memories.

Exhibitions runs 24 March – 5 May 2012 

KIN – Gray’s pre-degree show

KIN is an exhibition by Gray’s School of Art’s BA Hons printmaking students.
The exhibition gives an exciting insight into a great variety of different approaches to print and printmaking and showcases a diverse range of works made in preparation for the students’ degree show later in the year. So come along to support the students and see the artistic talents of tomorrow.

TEMPORARY ART SCHOOL – Poets in the City Workshop + Meet-up

The Temporary Art School is a one month live project happening throughout the city of Aberdeen in March 2012. TAS was devised by a group of people living and working in both Aberdeen and Glasgow who have come together to put on classes and workshops for all which experiment with what an art school can be and continue in a long tradition of self-organised education.

This Friday Poet Gerard Rochford will be giving a new workshop on the word whether it be spoken, written or sprawled in the streets. Please bring along a poem of two which you have written you would like someone to have a look at it and if you have never written one, in Gerard’s words ‘by the end you will have.’ email atemporaryartschool@gmail.com to reserve a space.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for NORTH WEST at the Edinburgh Art Festival
Peacock is seeking enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to join us for the Edinburgh Art Festival where we will be presenting North West by Katri Walker in the Old Ambulance Depot (just off Leith Walk). You will be an integral part of the festival team responsible for invigilation of the exhibition and general gallery duties.
All applicants are asked to work a minimum of six hours per week and must be able to commit to volunteering with us for the duration of the festival, 6 Aug – 4 Sep 2011.

WORK is an exhibition by Gray’s School of Art’s BA Hons printmaking students giving an exciting insight into a great variety of different approaches to print and printmaking.

A diverse range of works made in preparation for the students’ degree show later in the year will be on display in the reception gallery space of Peacock.

A film by Fraser Denholm exploring the perceived wealth of Aberdeen as the city at the centre of the European Oil Industry, while on the other side of the equation it is a city with areas of multiple deprivation, insufficient infrastructure for the heavy industry it supports and a city council dealing with a £150 Million deficit. An open discussion on the issues raised in the film will follow.

Thursday Print Club

After the success of recent weekend printmaking classes Peacock have been encouraged to offer supervised evening sessions. The aim is to help users become familiar with the workshops, to practice techniques and to gain confidence and benefit from regular supervision from Peacock Staff.
