By Caspar Lampkin.

The Big Lunch began life as a well watered seed a few years ago in the Eden Project, Cornwall with the core idea of bringing communities together. The point being that the friendships that you can make in just one fun get-together will last for the rest of the year.

The students at Aberdeen University are hosting Aberdeen’s contribution to this now national event supported by the ‘Friends of Union Terrace Gardens’  and with the great help and use of Cafe 52 on the Green. Continue reading »

Deportees

The Deportees in concert.

Fiona Soe Paing is a half-Scottish, half-Burmese composer, producer and vocalist based in Aberdeenshire. She creates ‘skeletal, off-world electronica’, based around minimal beats and interesting synthesiser noises. With a beautiful and unique voice and a full range of visuals, live performances are fascinating and compelling experiences which have earned rave reviews from all corners of the music and art world. Her haunting vocal melodies are sung sometimes in English and Burmese but are also supplemented by an invented No Man’s Language, with phonetics created purely for creative purposes.
